FOCUS / FIELD NOTES

Provenance.

Preserve the relationship between sources and outputs.

Provenance connects an artifact to the inputs, revisions, and processing steps that explain its origin. It does not automatically make the artifact true. Read these guides to distinguish source evidence, generated interpretation, reviewed content, and the version delivered to a user. Apply the same approach to a meeting summary, a model answer, and an edited video. Stable references and explicit unknown values are more useful than a detailed-looking history filled with assumptions.
